Roosevelt Elementary is 100 Years Old!
Roosevelt Elementary School first opened its doors to students in September 1908. As a school, Roosevelt has been serving its community for 100 years. The 2006-2007 school year will host a variety of events, activities, and projects to mark this historic event. Projects include:
- 100 Year Photograph
- Open House
- Roosevelt Centennial Mural
- In class projects
- And much more!
The Roosevelt Centennial Celebration (RCC) is a huge undertaking, and we need your help in getting the word out. We would like to hear from you if are able to help us get the RCC rolling, and to make it a memorable event for our students and school community. We need your assistance in the following areas:
- Researching the history of Roosevelt Elementary
- Locating and Contacting Roosevelt Alumni
- Archiving materials
- Locating the school bell, misplaced sometime after 1954
- Publicity
- Assisting with Roosevelt Centennial Mural project
- Fund raising (The Roosevelt Centennial Mural project is expensive)
- Scrap booking
- Photography
- End of Year Party
Some of these activities may only take an hour or so, such as coming into a classroom to help with the Roosevelt Centennial Mural project. Other activities, such as archiving materials, may take somewhat longer and would be great fun working together with an old friend or even a new friend! Whether you spend an hour volunteering or ten hours volunteering, you will be involved in a project which will live in the hearts and memories of our children for years to come.
