Roosevelt Elementary is over 100 Years Old!

Roosevelt Elementary School first opened its doors to students in September 1908. As a school, Roosevelt has been serving its community for 100 years. Throughout the 2006-2007 school year Roosevelt hosted a variety of events, activities, and projects to mark this historic event. Projects includde:

  • 100 Year Photograph
  • Open House
  • Roosevelt Centennial Mural
  • In class projects
  • And much more!

The Roosevelt Centennial Celebration (RCC) was a huge undertaking, with parents, students, teachers, and community members assisting in this project in variety of ways:

  • Researching the history of Roosevelt Elementary
  • Locating and Contacting Roosevelt Alumni
  • Archiving materials
  • Locating the school bell, misplaced sometime after 1954
  • Publicity
  • Assisting with Roosevelt Centennial Mural project
  • Fund raising (The Roosevelt Centennial Mural project is expensive)
  • Scrap booking
  • Photography
  • End of Year Party

Some of these activities may may have taken an hour or so, such as coming into a classroom to help with the Roosevelt Centennial Mural project. Other activities, such as archiving materials, took somewhat longer. regardless of the time spent on the project, our volunteers wrer  involved in a project which will live in the hearts and memories of our children for years to come.

Thank you for stopping by!
