Kelso's Choices & Lifeskills
Roosevelt Elementary School School has blended two fantastic programs to promote qualities and practices all children and adults find beneficial. Our staff, families, and school community are using the same language to encourage and remind each other of qualities and behaviors that promote good citizenship and conflict resolution.
One program, Kelso's Choices, gives children strategies to prevent small problems escalating into larger ones. Children are also familiar with a set of Lifskills words such as friendship and cooperation, and are praised for practicing these skills.
Both Kelso's Choices and Lifeskills are are useful both at school and at home.
Student Incident Reflection Form (SIRF)
This form is used to help student reflect upon a playground or other incident. A child may be asked to fill out this form at school, and then to bring it home and discuss it with his or her parents.
An Adobe pdf version of this form is available for families to use at home for incidents which happen outside of school. The form may be downloaded, printed, and filled out by hand. It is also possible to fill out the SIRF on the computer. You will however, need a full copy of Adobe Acrobat to be able to save it with the entered responses.
