Playground Expectations

Students must play in designated areas only.

  1. Students must follow directions given by teachers or playground supervisors.
  2. Students must follow all school game rules.
  3. Students must take turns, be cooperative, use appropriate language, and respect others' playing areas and activities.
  4. Changing any game rules or not using appropriate LIfeskills will result in being removed from the game.
  5. Everyone will respect the playground environment and care for the playground equipment.
  6. Students may not hurt others, throw rocks, sticks, pine cones, etc., or play fight.
  7. Students must never approach any stranger who calls them or approaches the playground.
  8. Students must never leave the school grounds during recess.
  9. You must report any emergency or unsafe situation to an adult.

 

Tether Ball Rules

  1. Serve with open hand.
  2. Opponent hits ball opposite direction as server.
  3. May not use fists to hit ball (Open hand only).
  4. Must play on YOUR SIDE of dividing line only
  5. Judge is the first person in line. The judge must make a fair call on all players
  6. The game is over when 1. A tether is made 2. A foul occurs 3. A player has won three times.

FOULS:

  1. Hitting ball with fists
  2. Double hits
  3. Holding or catching the ball
  4. Holding or touching the rope or pole
  5. Stepping on or over the dividing line


Rules for Four Square

  1. A game for two to four players.
  2. Server is player in marked box.
  3. Players rotate to the right.
  4. The served ball must land in the diagonal square and be played upon on the first bounce.
  5. The receiving player hits the ball to any other player.
  6. First person in line is judge.The judge must make fair calls on all players.

FOULS:

  1. Ball bounces on a line or out of the court
  2. Catching or holding the ball
  3. Failure to return the ball
  4. Hitting the ball with your fist


Wall Ball Rules

  1. Only two players in a game.
  2. Server hits ball with open hand, causing the ball to bounce one time before hitting the wall.
  3. Other player hits the rebound ball. That ball may bounce only one time between the player and the wall and when returned, must bounce one time before hitting the wall.
  4. the ball must bounce within boundary lines
  5. First player in line is the judge. The judge must make fair calls on all players.

FOULS:

  1. Hitting the ball with your fists.
  2. Causing the ball to bounce more than one time before it hits the wall or letting it bounce more than one time before you hit it.
  3. Causing the ball to bounce higher then the backboard. (Hitting the basketball hoop).
  4. Causing the ball to bounce on or outside the boundary lines.
  5. Students using poor Lifeskills will be removed from the game.


Playing on the Big Toys

  • No jumping off the big toys
  • Slide on your bottom with feet first and inside the slide
  • The slides are for sliding, not climbing.
  • No standing on top of the bars
  • Use caution when wet. It is very slippery.
  • No dangerous play or running through the big toys.
  • Always start from the back and go to the front on the rings and monkey bars.


Swings

  • Sit on your bottom
  • No jumping off the swing
  • Hold on when swinging
  • Swing back and forth only
  • Use open swings before counting
  • Don't lean way back while swinging
  • If waiting for a turn, stand well back and let the person on the swing know you're waiting.Then count to 60 with each full swing (Every time the swinging person's legs comes forward, that's one count)

Spicas

  • Spicas can be sat or stood on by two people
  • The rides are 10 seconds long if students are waiting to use them.
