Halloween
Halloween is almost upon us! Please do not send your student to school in a costume. In place of costumes, we are having a school-wide crazy sock day. Have your students wear and show off their silliest socks! This is in celebration of our Soctober fundraiser where we were able to donate over 400 pairs of new and gently used socks. Thank you to everyone who contributed.
Veteran’s Day
Tuesday, November 7th is the day of our Veteran’s Day Assembly. The assembly will begin at 1:10 PM. Please invite the military veterans or current military personnel in your family to attend our assembly. We would love to honor your service in the armed forces.

School Attendance Matters
Every month, individual student attendance is being monitored by school staff. We have a saying here at Roosevelt that says, “Missing School is Missing Out.” Please try to schedule family vacations around our scheduled breaks at school. Thank you for helping us ensure that all students have an equal opportunity to succeed.
2017-18 Science Fair
The science fair is being scheduled for a date in February. This early date will allow interested students to enroll their projects in the regional science fair. Deborah Nied will be in charge of the science fair this year. More information will come home in December. For now, please keep this in the back of your mind.
Health Room
· Please make sure to send a doctor’s note for any medications (including over the counter meds.).
· We are running low on extra clothing. Make sure your child has an extra change of clothes in his/her backpack.
Library News
Summer Reading Celebration
What a busy fall this has been! On Oct. 20th we had our annual Timberland Regional Library Summer Reading Program Celebration. 56 kids had frozen fruit bars, played ball, and talked books. Thanks to our PTA who funds this activity and to the parents who came to help out.
2017-18 Book Fair
As I write this, we are wrapping up our Scholastic Book Fair. We will be setting a record for sales this year! A percentage of the sales goes back into our library budget to purchase new books. Remember that our online book fair runs through October 31. If you were unable to attend the in-school book fair, this is another way to shop the sale and help out our school. The web address is listed in the flier and the notices sent home earlier, or you can click this link to the Online Book Fair and find the Roosevelt Elementary fair. A big thank you goes out to the PTA for helping make this happen and for all the parent volunteers who signed up for shifts to sell books and help kids get excited about reading.
