Spring Conferences

March 31st through April 3rd have been set aside for individual family conferences.  To make this happen, we will be on a half-day schedule for each conference day and release students at 12:15 PM.  

For scheduling purposes, we will once again use Skyward Family Access.  The conferencing tab in Family Access will be open for families with more than one child from Monday, March 9th through Tuesday, March 10th.  The conferencing tab will be open to everyone beginning on Wednesday, March 11th, and will close down on March 23rd.  Please make sure to use Family Access to schedule your time during the appropriate open window. 

Detailed instructions will be posted to our school website. You will be able to access the materials by clicking on the link in the announcements section on the homepage of the Roosevelt website.

Kindergarten Through Second Grade Music Concert

On March 25th at 2:00, the kindergarten, first, and second grade students will perform their Spring concert.  Seating will begin at 1:45 PM. Please give yourselves plenty of time for travel, as the parking lot will be full.  Walking and carpooling is appreciated.

Parking Lot Reminders

I understand how challenging parking can be at the beginning and end of every day.  There are very few slots available for parents to park in the lot. Given this challenge, please help me by following these expectations below.  Doing so will allow everyone to get in and out as quickly as possible:

  • Only park in stalls that are marked as parking stalls
  • Do not park in handicapped stalls unless you have the appropriate sticker
  • Use the traffic circle when spots are full.  We will bring your child to your car for you.  All you have to do is wait in line.
  • When in the traffic circle, make sure to stay in your car at all times.

Early Release and No School Days in February

Early Release Days:  March 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th

Half Days (Dismissal @ 12:15 PM): March 31st, April 1st, 2nd, 3rd

Roosevelt Talent Show

Talent show applications are available right now.  If students wish to perform in the talent show, they need to have their applications turned in by March 10th.  Auditions will be held on Wednesday, March 18th. Dress rehearsals are scheduled for the 22nd and 29th of April.  The final talent show will be held on the 30th of April.  There will be one performance during the school day at 1:30 PM and a night performance at 6:30 PM.

Class Picture Day

Class pictures will happen on Tuesday, March 24th and will be taken during the school day.  This is a great day for the kids to come to school looking good!

Library News


STAR Night (Sit Together and Read Night)

STAR night is this Thursday, March 5th, from 6:00-7:30 pm. Come join us for our annual celebration of reading! Listen to distinguished guest readers, make bookmarks, dress in the costume of your favorite book character (optional) then participate in the Parade of Characters, and get a FREE BOOK!! This fun, free family event is sponsored by our generous PTA. Hope to see you there! 

Please note: All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Battle of the Books

The Battle of the Books (BOB) Final Battle date has been set. Roosevelt students will battle it out on Monday March 30th at 2:15 PM.  Parents are welcome to attend the final battle and cheer our finalists to a victory.





Monthly PTA Meeting

Our Monthly PTA Meeting is coming up on March 17th at 6:30 PM in the Roosevelt Library. Free childcare will be provided. Also, please note that the dates for the March, April and May Meetings have changed to March 17th, April 21st and May 19th.  Thanks!  

Staff Appreciation

The week of March 9th-13th is Classified Staff Appreciation Week! Since we love celebrating all of our staff members, the PTA is providing a lunch on Tuesday March 10th starting at 10 a.m. in the staff lounge for the classified staff. 

We are asking for a handful of families to provide a “potluck” style dish to share. If you’re able to help, please contact Chrystal Schmidtke. Thank you for your continued support of our Staff Appreciation events and be sure to check out our Staff Favorites list on-line and in the front office for an extra idea to show some classified staff members your appreciation!

School Play

The School Play is this FRIDAY and SATURDAY!  This year's production will be The Wizard of Oz, Jr. 

We are still looking for a few Volunteers to help sell concessions and flowers at each performance.  If you’re interested in volunteering, please click here.  

The performances will take place on March 6th @ 7:00pm and March 7th @ 2:00pm.  Tickets will be available at the door for $5 (CASH ONLY).  The performance is 1 hour with a 15-minute intermission.  Concessions will be available for $1. Thanks for supporting your kids during the 2020 Roosevelt Read-a-thon! Please have them turn in their Tracking Calendar (with adult initials in each square), Reading List, Sponsor Sheet, and all money collected by Friday, March 6th. The Read-a-thon awards and prizes will be handed out at morning assembly on Monday, March 9th.


Walk N Roll is March 11th!  Join a walking group from Bigelow Park or the Olympia Little Theater at 8:30 and walk to school with your friends. 

Are you interested in helping with Walk-N-Roll?  We need 1-2 people to welcome walkers and riders to Roosevelt on Walk N Roll days--the 2nd Wednesday of the month.  Greeters arrive at school at 8:30 and greet from 8:45-9:10. Please contact Casey Wilson at [email protected] to sign up. 


Roosevelt 5k-Sponsorship Still Available
